Welcome fall!

Fall in West Virginia can spoil a girl! The leaves are changing, the weather is chilly. It is the perfect time of year to sit under a crochet project and sip hot cocoa!

My husband worked overtime today. I fixed his breakfast, packed his lunch and sent him off. Then I went to a meeting and then out to lunch with two of my friends. Then I went to do early voting. After that I ran an errand, I had to get some things for the house. Then it was home to fold some laundry.

Today I am getting out the flannel sheets and the electric blanket. I just made the bed, but I am testing the electric blanket out now, to see which controller goes with which side. Last year I did not test, and one night I was freezing and kept turning up the dial on the blanket. It did not seem to be warm enough, so I cranked it up to full blast. At that point DH sits up, covered in sweat! Ooops! We had to switch blanket remotes after that ;)

You can tell it is colder out now, because all three cats are sleeping in the bed with us. Usually it is just Cornflake who sleeps on Bryan's side. Now all three are piled in with us. Usually one is on top of me, one is between us, and Cornflake is on Bryan's side. Good thing we have a king sized bed!

Today I am doing some advanced cooking. I might have gotten a job ;) I start Tuesday, and it will take a while to really get in to the groove. So I am cooking a few dinners in advance today for next week. DH and I will have to meet at church on Wednesday nights now, and he will be there before me for a change. I get off of work at 5:30 and church starts at 6. I have to drive about 25 miles. When we don't go to church together I normally find him at a table of old ladies, and they always call him Snookums and he blushes LOL

I am not sure what I will be cooking, but I have a fully stocked pantry now, thanks to my Mother helping me shop the other week. So I have no excuse not to make some yummy meals. The cow finally arrived and my portion is in my parent's deep freeze. There is nothing better than organic grass fed beef from my Aunt's farm!

I am excited to start my new job. I hope that I like working there. I have to drive 50 miles a day round trip, but that is okay. It is better than sitting home.

I have learned a lot of valuable lessons being off work for the last month and a half.

1. I should have paid off the medical bill with my last job. But we were not dedicated enough. Now I know that it is important to keep track of every penny and that I should not spend on things that we do not need and are not important.

2. We can do without a LOT of the things we had spent money on before.

3. God will take care of us and there is no need to worry. I honestly did not do a lot of worrying being out of work. God provided in a BIG way.

God also put a new friend in my life who works as a fiancial advisor. He is going to help us to make a new budget once I get my first paycheck. What a blessing to meet someone who does that for work! Especially because he is helping us for free! Amazing! He has helped a lot of people budget and help them to get out of debt. So I am excited to see what he comes up with. Although I jokingly told him in front of DH that I would like him to include a generous clothing allowance LOL

I also met someone who is a retired home ec teacher and she is helping me to learn to cook. What a blessing to have so many friends. I never had any friends when I was working 70 hours a week. Someone told me that they thought God had me lose my old job so that I could learn to trust Him, and so that I could learn how to be social and get more invovled with the church and other activities. And I have done that a lot.

So my life is really good right now and I hope that I can share my blessings with others.

In Christmas crafting, I have completed my Mother's blanket and am working on one for my MIL now. I am also making my Aunt a blanket for her 50th birthday in December.

I better go see which side of the bed is heating up ;) Have a blessed day, everyone!

I wanted to tell you again that I am so happy for you. I know your new job will be great. And I am a teensy bit jealous that you have a home ec friend. :) Share what you learn with us. :)
Have a great day tomorrow!
