I can not believe that I get paid to do this

Because I have the best job in the entire world. Seriously.

I love my job. I get to use my degree. I only work 40 hours instead of 70. The kids love me. I love them. I get hugs and "I love Miss Jaime"s and pictures they draw for me.

Did I mention that I did this same job as a student teacher for free? Ha!

Life is good. God is good!! He really had a plan for me.

Welcome November!

Hello everyone :-) This was my first week as a preschool teacher. I think that I have finally found what I am good at. Everyone has a niche, I guess, and this is mine.

I have always felt really incapable at my past jobs. Always worried that I wasn't doing something right, always unsure. Not now. I feel confident and sure. I love it!

I have 8 boys and 4 girls right now. I learned all of their names the first day, now I am working on learning the names of the rest of the kids at the building.

I have made up my lesson plans for the next two weeks and I turned them in to the lead teacher in my room. She is really nice and we get along well. Everyone there is nice, even the guards at the main gate are friendly.

My body is quite tired at the moment, because I am still adjusting to this schedule. With my meetings and church and family time, the gym, etc, I am still learning how to work it all in.

Today is a busy day. I am going to a meeting, then out to lunch and a movie with my friend. Then tonight DH and I are going out to dinner and I am going to show him where I work, at least the outside of it. I can't take him all the way in because it is a secured site.

Oh and DH gave me his car and I am so glad to have it! My car did not have rear defrost, the heat did not work on two settings, etc. Lots of problems. But my wonderful hubby traded cars with me because I drive further each day. He is so sweet to me!! We are thinking about getting remote starters to make it easier in the mornings to heat the cars up.

I better run, I am late!

First day!

Whew! What a whirlwind. I pretty much just jumped right in with my class. I have a co-teacher and she is wonderful. I have 12 students. I learned their names right away because I have this absurd memory. We eat lunch family style, and so I ate fish sticks and those little potatoes that have smiley faces on them with them. Also, because there were 12 sets of eyes on me, I drank a cup of 2% milk. I did not enjoy it, but I feel that it is more important to be a good role model.

We had a good day today. It was very cold so we only played outside once. I saw a friend after work and then came home for dinner with hubby.

I am very tired though, so this is short! DH wants to play a game of UNO with me before bed. I love that card game! LOL

Anyone have these bags yet?

The zip lock bags that have the vacuum attachment thingy? I have to tell you, I normally am not one to jump on the bandwagon of new products- but FIL gave me a starter kit and I am in love with it LOL

Today was a busy day. I had two doctors appointments and I got my car inspected. Sadly, my blood pressure was still the same this morning as it was the last visit I had. When I went to my other doctor earlier in the month, it was very low. So I am not sure what is going on. My doctor told me to keep taking the medicine and to come back in two months.

I have packed all of DH's lunches for the rest of the week. I have also cooked our dinners for the rest of the week and have one more meal in the freezer and probably two more of what I am making tonight for the freezer.

I wanted to make my first week of work as easy as possible, thus the cooking ahead. I start tomorrow! I am nervous!

Welcome fall!

Fall in West Virginia can spoil a girl! The leaves are changing, the weather is chilly. It is the perfect time of year to sit under a crochet project and sip hot cocoa!

My husband worked overtime today. I fixed his breakfast, packed his lunch and sent him off. Then I went to a meeting and then out to lunch with two of my friends. Then I went to do early voting. After that I ran an errand, I had to get some things for the house. Then it was home to fold some laundry.

Today I am getting out the flannel sheets and the electric blanket. I just made the bed, but I am testing the electric blanket out now, to see which controller goes with which side. Last year I did not test, and one night I was freezing and kept turning up the dial on the blanket. It did not seem to be warm enough, so I cranked it up to full blast. At that point DH sits up, covered in sweat! Ooops! We had to switch blanket remotes after that ;)

You can tell it is colder out now, because all three cats are sleeping in the bed with us. Usually it is just Cornflake who sleeps on Bryan's side. Now all three are piled in with us. Usually one is on top of me, one is between us, and Cornflake is on Bryan's side. Good thing we have a king sized bed!

Today I am doing some advanced cooking. I might have gotten a job ;) I start Tuesday, and it will take a while to really get in to the groove. So I am cooking a few dinners in advance today for next week. DH and I will have to meet at church on Wednesday nights now, and he will be there before me for a change. I get off of work at 5:30 and church starts at 6. I have to drive about 25 miles. When we don't go to church together I normally find him at a table of old ladies, and they always call him Snookums and he blushes LOL

I am not sure what I will be cooking, but I have a fully stocked pantry now, thanks to my Mother helping me shop the other week. So I have no excuse not to make some yummy meals. The cow finally arrived and my portion is in my parent's deep freeze. There is nothing better than organic grass fed beef from my Aunt's farm!

I am excited to start my new job. I hope that I like working there. I have to drive 50 miles a day round trip, but that is okay. It is better than sitting home.

I have learned a lot of valuable lessons being off work for the last month and a half.

1. I should have paid off the medical bill with my last job. But we were not dedicated enough. Now I know that it is important to keep track of every penny and that I should not spend on things that we do not need and are not important.

2. We can do without a LOT of the things we had spent money on before.

3. God will take care of us and there is no need to worry. I honestly did not do a lot of worrying being out of work. God provided in a BIG way.

God also put a new friend in my life who works as a fiancial advisor. He is going to help us to make a new budget once I get my first paycheck. What a blessing to meet someone who does that for work! Especially because he is helping us for free! Amazing! He has helped a lot of people budget and help them to get out of debt. So I am excited to see what he comes up with. Although I jokingly told him in front of DH that I would like him to include a generous clothing allowance LOL

I also met someone who is a retired home ec teacher and she is helping me to learn to cook. What a blessing to have so many friends. I never had any friends when I was working 70 hours a week. Someone told me that they thought God had me lose my old job so that I could learn to trust Him, and so that I could learn how to be social and get more invovled with the church and other activities. And I have done that a lot.

So my life is really good right now and I hope that I can share my blessings with others.

In Christmas crafting, I have completed my Mother's blanket and am working on one for my MIL now. I am also making my Aunt a blanket for her 50th birthday in December.

I better go see which side of the bed is heating up ;) Have a blessed day, everyone!
